Africa

Landesa launched new programs in Burkina Faso,
Kenya, Liberia, and Rwanda in FY 2011
In partnership with World Resources Institute, we launched Focus on Land in Africa, an interactive educational tool, which provides practical information linking land rights and development goals.

Landesa Center for
Women’s Land Rights

We launched an innovative new pilot in India,
which is designed to ensure that both mothers and daughters have rights to their land. This year we created community groups in six villages where families have received land, where we are creating lasting dialogues about the importance of girls’ and inheritance rights.

We successfully gained a critical
foothold in China,

now with dedicated staff to advance women’s land rights throughout the country, and the potential to reach millions of women in the years to come.

We continued to train the next generation of gender land rights specialists through the Landesa Center for Women’s Land Rights Fellowship.

We helped our teams in China, India,
Burkina Faso, Kenya, Liberia, and
Rwanda place a more effective gender lens on our work in those countries.
