Dorcas Akello Project Coordinator – Conflict and Land, Saferworld

Dorcas Akello holds a bachelor’s degree in Tourism and a Master’s degree in Development Studies. She is currently working with Saferworld as the Project Coordinator – Conflict and Land. Ms. Akello has over 13 years of experience working on land rights and land governance, land related conflict analysis, access to justice, and peace building. She also has a solid background and expertise on conflict sensitivity and gender sensitivity particularly on land governance.

Prior to her work with Saferworld, Ms. Akello worked as the Executive Director for Africa Community Development Network (ACODEN) for four years and with the Norwegian Refugee Council in the Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) project for over seven years. She is a strong advocate and promoter of women’s land and property rights.
