Nasieku Kisambu Lawyer and Program Officer on Land Rights Tanzania Women Lawyers Association

Nasieku Kisambu received an LLB (2008), Master’s Degree LLM (2013) from the University of Dar es Salaam, and pursued a practical legal training postgraduate diploma from the Law School of Tanzania. She is the Director of programs with the Tanzania Lawyers Association. She has experience in women’s rights, children’s rights and advocacy. She is also an alumnus of International Visitor Leadership Program by US Department of State. Naseku focuses her knowledge and skills on improving the rights of women and children in her practice, which includes finding ways to overcome challenges presented by high rates of illiteracy and customs that discriminate against women. Her focus is monitoring policy and legal changes in the country, as well as at the regional and international level relevant to women rights and design response mechanisms to promote and protect women rights. She has published papers on women land rights and seeks to continue research work towards women land rights to inform advocacy projects.
