Join us for an unparalleled opportunity to travel internationally with Landesa’s team and meet with our in-country land tenure experts. Landesa’s See the Change trips provide you with the opportunity to learn directly from the women, men, and communities working to strengthen their rights to land. Experience the positive impact of our work, as we explore natural, historical, and cultural sites along the way.

Check out a sample itinerary:

Sunday, July 7: Arrival in Tanzania. Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet your guide for a one-hour drive to Arusha, where you will have time to rest and refresh. In the evening, gather for a Welcome Dinner, where you will meet fellow travelers and Landesa representatives.

Monday, July 8: Ngorongoro Safari. Embark on safari at world-renowned Ngorongoro crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to witness the Big 5 and Great Wildebeest Migration – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Return to Arusha to rest and prepare for a group dinner with curated discussion focusing on the upcoming visit to rural Mufindi, where Landesa programs are improving agricultural practices and education.

Tuesday, July 9 and Wednesday, July 10: Journey to Mufindi District. Take a morning charter flight from Arusha to Iringa, followed by a scenic two-hour drive to Mufindi. Share lunch with the District Commissioner and learn about local governance and village land use planning on our way to Ikongosi Juu village to meet village leaders and farmers.

On Day 2 in Mufindi, visit Ikongosi & Nundwe villages for smallgroup tours with local farmers, and gain insights into rural life, sustainable land practices, and the protection of wetlands, water catchments and other shared resources.

Thursday, July 11: From rural Mufindi to the beaches of Zanzibar. Depart Mufindi and embark on a two-hour drive to Iringa, where you will catch a one-hour flight to Zanzibar. Explore the vibrant and historic Stone-town area with an afternoon walking tour of its UNESCO-listed sites, before gathering for an ocean-side dinner alongside members of Stand for Her Land Campaign and the National Generation Equality Forum for discussion centering on women’s land rights and gender equality.

Friday, July 12: Women’s Empowerment and Farewell. After breakfast, we will travel to the rural areas of Zanzibar to visit spice farms supported by TAMWA, a member of Stand for Her Land, to learn about partner contributions to sustainable agriculture and economic empowerment. Conclude the journey with a memorable Farewell Dinner, reflecting on the experiences shared and friendships formed during the trip.

Saturday, July 13: Departure. Bid farewell to Tanzania as you depart from Zanzibar International Airport or extend your stay with further travel in Tanzania or across East Africa – ask us for our recommendations!
